Continuing Airworthiness Service (back to top)
To ensure the ongoing safety of the worldwide fleet of Scottish Aviation Bulldog aircraft, de Havilland Support Ltd now offers to subscribers its Continuing Airworthiness Service (CAS).  The CAS is offered to owners of Beagle Pup aircraft at a lower cost than for the Bulldog in recognition of the limitation in support that can be provided to the Pup following its classification as an EASA type.  In return for subscribing to the CAS, customers receive the following benefits:

General Services:

All SB amendments as appropriate - free of charge (FOC).
 The Beagle Bulletin - FOC.
 Publications – 10% discount.
 Drawings – 10% discount.
 Spare parts – 10% discount.

Note:  The Beagle Bulletin is our occasional newsletter which is issued free of charge to subscribers to the CAS to provide a tangible means of communication between de Havilland Support Ltd and the owners, operators and maintenance organisations for Pup and Bulldog aircraft.  The Bulletin provides coverage of news and less formal technical issues which do not warrant the issue of a formal Service Bulletin.

Query Answer Service:

DHSL will respond as soon as reasonably practicable to such enquiries and work for CAS subscribers will have precedence over that for non-subscribers.  DHSL reserves the right to charge man-hours etc in the event of a complex enquiry which cannot be resolved by a short phone call or e-mail (customers will be warned if this seems likely).

Other Work:

Bespoke work carried out for CAS subscribers, such as modification submissions, repair design, consultancy etc, will be charged at normal hourly rates without discount.

Cost of Joining the CAS:

The cost of joining the CAS is as follows:

1. Single-engine types: e.g. Moth Series, Chipmunk, and Bulldog:

 UK/European Union - £45.00 (incl VAT) – (£38.30 + £6.70 VAT)
 Rest of World  - £45.00

 2. Special Types:

 a. Beagle Pup/Thruxton Jackaroo:

 UK/European Union - £25.00 (incl VAT) – (£21.28 + £3.72 VAT)
 Rest of World  - £25.00

To join the CAS, please complete the application form from the link below and submit to de Havilland Support Ltd by FAX or e-mail, together with the appropriate payment.  For details of the preferred methods of payment, please see below.

Service Bulletins (SB) (back to top)
Service Bulletins (SB) are the means by which Beagle and Scottish Aviation and their successor companies have published information affecting the continued airworthiness of the various aircraft types.  Some of these SB have been mandated by the UK CAA and other national aviation authorities.  The purchase price of all de Havilland aircraft SB does not include a subscription to the SB amendment service and to benefit from this provision it is necessary for customers to join the Continuing Airworthiness Service (CAS) – see above.

Other Technical Publications (back to top)
Over the years a wide range of technical publications have been issued in support of Pup and Bulldog aircraft, including Maintenance and Repair Manuals, Overhaul Manuals, Schedules of Spare Parts and Maintenance Schedules.  Details of those publications currently available can be obtained on line in downloadable form from the link below.  This document also shows the current amendment status of these publications, information which is often required by approved organisations to show that their publications are amended up to date.

Unfortunately, in most cases the technical content of these documents has been ‘frozen’ and the only means of amending the data has been by the promulgation of a SB or an ‘Advance Information Leaflet’.  Whilst there is no active amendment service for these publications, it is essential that holders register their interest so that they might be advised whenever an amendment or revision is published.  Accordingly, there is no charge for registration as a publication holder.  In the event that a publication is amended or re-issued, de Havilland Support Ltd will contact all registered holders and advise details of the amendment and its cost.

Approved Flight Manuals (back to top)
As the Type Design Organisation, de Havilland Support Ltd is able to supply copies of the Approved Flight Manual or Owner’s Handbook for Pup and Bulldog aircraft.  Each document is issued with a Certificate of Conformity which is specific to the individual aircraft concerned.  The cost of Approved Flight Manuals is shown in the listing of Publications and Status.

Supply of Manufacturing Drawings (back to top)
de Havilland Support can provide copies of manufacturing drawings to assist in the maintenance or restoration of existing aircraft.  It is a requirement of our Terms and Conditions of Business that orders are confirmed in writing.  We do not supply complete ‘sets’ of drawings, nor do we supply drawings in support of the construction of home-built or replica aircraft.  Before an order for drawings is delivered, the customer must confirm the order on the proforma provided.  In signing the proforma the customer indicates acceptance of our Terms and Conditions of Business, in particular that element which deals with the supply of drawings and their approval status.  A complete copy of the Terms and Conditions of Business can be supplied on request and is also available for download from the website.  The costs of drawings are shown in the table below.

Most drawings are available for sale as reproductions from microfilmed aperture cards.  Image quality is variable but every effort is made to improve the printed output by using the latest digital scanning hardware and software.  Drawings are printed from A4 size up to A0, depending on the content and complexity.

The scale of charges for drawings is as follows:

Size of Drawing
Price
A4
£5
A3
£10
A2
£15
A1
£17.50
A0
£20

Note:  For customers from within the EU, VAT at the applicable rate (currently 17.5%) is payable on all orders for drawings, except where a VAT registration number can be quoted by the customer.  The price of drawings includes surface postage; air mail delivery is available at cost.

Drawing Ordering Procedure

Drawings should be ordered by quoting the drawing number or component part number.  In the first instance, orders should be submitted to de Havilland Support Ltd by letter, FAX or e-mail so that we can ascertain drawing availability and advise the costs, including any air mail surcharge.

Repair Schemes (back to top)
The de Havilland Support Ltd archive contains an array of repair drawings and schemes which are presently being catalogued.  Thus, if an aircraft has damage in excess of published repair schemes, a solution may already be available.  Alternatively, the Company can originate new repair schemes or classify the extent of damage under the terms of its CAA design approval.  In future, it is hoped to display an Index of Repair Schemes on the Company’s website.

Modifications (back to top)
The de Havilland Support Ltd Design Approval (UK CAA Groups E1 and E2) allows the Company to originate modifications.  Such activity might range from the approval of an alternative material specification to the design of a completely new aircraft system.  Due to the variability of the work required in modification design, each task would be the subject of an individual quotation.

Supply of Spare Parts (back to top)
The Company is first and foremost a Type Design Organisation and not a spares stockist.  However, the Company is close to approval of an EASA Part 145 component repair and overhaul capability.  This approval will allow the Company to overhaul and certify parts from the range of aircraft it supports.  More information on this topic will be published as soon as the approval has been granted.  Details of available spare parts will be notified on the Company’s website under Represented Aircraft Types.
